Cragging at Aranjuez close to the city, plus 6x6000m mountains easily accessible from the Altiplano. Cuzco and Macchu Picchu - the Inca trail. Or newly-discovered cragging at 3 canyons. Plus Lake Titicaca's floating reed huts - homes of local uros indians Catedral de Frey and Valle Encatado. 750+ world class routes on granite and volcanic rock. 1-10 pitches. Arequipa. Beach bouldering plus time to raft the Colca Canyon and see condors. The weird, ancient Nazca lines. Oh - and sandboarding the Cerro Blanco, worlds biggest sand dune. But not before we spend a week cragging around the city (several destinations) whilst others do Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, the Galapagos, raft the Rio Blanco and so on...

Southbound, the Equator to Patagonia

 

From August 2011 to March 2012 Hot Rock will be cragging throughout South America, from the equator to it's southernmost tip.

As usual the links on the right take you to the page for the relevant section of the trip... but you can also move the mouse over the map on the left to see what each red dot represents.

I've used every bit of experience gained from 4 years of running trips to try to make sure that this one is the best of all time.

And because this is the second of our back-to-back tours in South America, we'll have the benefit of everything the first group learned!

The timing and route are designed to ensure that we hit climbing season in more or less every destination through the trip.

Of course, as we rumble down the spine of the Andes, we'll make sure we don't miss any of the major non-climbing stuff either.
